Area Visit Days - Coming December 2025

Our new ‘Area Visit Days’ at Cambridge Equine Clinic (CEC) offer a cost-effective way to access routine veterinary care for your horse, pony or donkey.

By grouping visits in specific areas on set days, we reduce travel time and share travel costs between clients  - and those savings are passed directly onto you. This approach helps keep routine care affordable while supporting our commitment to sustainability.

Fewer individual journeys mean fewer vehicle emissions, allowing us to lower our carbon footprint and deliver high-quality care with reduced environmental impact.

How it works?

  • Our practice map is divided into 5 areas:  Central, North, South, East and West.  Each of the North, South, East and West areas has one scheduled Area Visit Day per week.  The Central area is included three times weekly during any Area Visit Day.
  • Area Visit Days allow for routine veterinary work to be done with a discounted visit fee of £20 per premises.
  • As an introductory offer, until 6 months after launch, the Area Visit Day discounted visit fee of £20 per premises will be further discounted to be FREE.

When are our Area Visit Days?

  • CENTRAL area – every TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
  • NORTH area – every TUESDAY
  • SOUTH area - every WEDNESDAY
  • EAST & WEST areas – every THURSDAY

What type of work can be booked on an Area Visit Day?

Most routine veterinary work can be booked on an Area Visit Day, including non-urgent consultations, vaccinations, microchipping, lameness checks, dentals, blood and health tests.

  • The following work is not eligible for an Area Visit Day discounted visit fee, but may be able to be scheduled on an Area Visit Day, subject to availability:

    • Repro scanning, pre-purchase exams, x-rays, ultrasound scanning, endoscopy, emergencies, castrations, lameness work-ups (beyond initial lameness assessment).
Why is CEC offering this scheme?
  • We want to offer our clients a cost-effective option for pre-planned consultations or procedures.
  • Due to increasing demand on our vet’s caseload, we would like them to work as efficiently as possible.
  • We want to reduce our environmental footprint by optimising our vehicle use.

How will I know when my AVD will be?
  • Have a look at the coloured map above to see which area your horse is in and check the list of days in the text above.  If your area is borderline or you are unsure, please see contact our client services on 01223 760535
I have a busy life and need an appointment time with a specific vet – can CEC still offer this?
  • Absolutely!  In these cases, subject to availability, these appointments are available 5 days a week and standard visit fees will apply.
Terms and Conditions
  • CEC reserves the right to alter the boundaries of the “areas” without notice.  Clients located on the borders of area boundaries can only belong to one area.
  • Clients must be registered with CEC and account not in arrears.
  • Area Visit Day appointments to be booked-in and pre-paid no later than 5pm two working days before the visit.
  • For visits to pre-planned routine veterinary work on an eligible Area Visit Day the visit fee is discounted, but the CEC standard fees for the work undertaken on an Area Visit Day remain applicable.
  • Visit times cannot be given at the time of booking.  Clients will not be able to specify a particular vet or visit time but can express a preference for us to avoid specific times, which we will accommodate wherever possible.
  • Estimated visit times will be scheduled on the afternoon prior to the Area Visit Day.  Clients will be contacted by 5pm the day ahead of the visit.
  • CEC reserves the right to limit the visit numbers and/or number of dentals limited to a maximum of 8 for each Area Visit Day, unless by special arrangement (where another vet would assist).
  • Visits for non-routine (including urgent/emergency) veterinary work can also be made during an Area Visit Day but will not be discounted.
  • All of our vets will rotate through all areas.
  • On a non-Area Visit Day the ‘3 for free’ promotion offer will be maintained until further notice.
  • Equine passports must be available for all appointments.
