The Queen's Veterinary School Hospital

The Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital is inviting dog owners to take part in an exciting new study exploring the benefits of physiotherapy for dogs with osteoarthritis.

If your dog has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and has been referred to our physiotherapy service, they may be eligible to take part in this six-week research program. The study, led by a veterinary student in collaboration with our experienced physiotherapist, aims to evaluate how tailored physiotherapy can improve your dog’s comfort, mobility and overall quality of life.

What’s involved?

Your dog will follow a six-week, personalised physiotherapy plan as part of their normal treatment. As an owner, you’ll be asked to complete three quick questionnaires (just five minutes each) over the course of the program, sharing feedback on your dog’s progress at home.

Additional benefits of taking part include:

  • A personalised report summarising your dog’s response to physiotherapy

  • Regular assessments of your dog’s mobility, including weight bearing and range of motion – all non-invasive and carried out during scheduled appointments

  •  No additional costs for any study-related assessments

By taking part you’ll gain valuable insights into your dog’s mobility and learn more about their condition. You’ll also be contributing directly to research that could benefit countless dogs in the future - while helping to enhance the learning experience of our veterinary students, who are actively involved in this study.
