The Queen's Veterinary School Hospital

Welcome to The Queen's Veterinary School Hospital

We know how much your pet means to you, and we’re here to support you both every step of the way. Whether you're visiting us for a general practice appointment, specialist referral or in an emergency, our experienced team of vets, nurses, and support staff is committed to providing expert, compassionate care.

We also understand that coming to the hospital can feel stressful especially if it is your first visit. Please be assured that we’ll do everything we can to make your visit as calm and comfortable as possible.

Once your appointment is booked, our client services team will send you a confirmation email with key details about your consultation. You’ll also find some helpful information below to help you prepare for your visit. Please note: by attending your appointment you confirm you have accepted our terms & conditions.

What to expect on your first visit

On arrival, please come into main reception in the rotunda building using the green button to the right of the door which will open the automatic door. You will be greeted by our friendly reception team who will check your pet in. If you haven’t done so already you will be asked to pay the consultation fee, payment preference is by debit/credit card. We are unfortunately unable to accept American Express.

Please note that any consultation fees paid are not included in any treatment estimates given during your consultation.

Following a consultation, of approximately 1 – 2 hours, and full clinical examination, the attending clinician will discuss with you the recommended next diagnostic and/or treatment options for your pet. Some or all these procedures may take place after the consultation, however, please be mindful that this is not always possible and some procedures may either need to be performed over multiple days (with your pet hospitalised in-between) or scheduled for a subsequent visit.

If you are self-paying you will be required to pay the estimate of costs before treatment can go ahead. If your pet is insured and you would like the team to submit an insurance claim on your behalf you can pay a £30 administration fee for this to be processed for you.

If you need anything else or have any questions before your appointment, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Re-checks:

You may be required to attend several re-check appointments over the course of your pet's treatment. Please be advised that a subsequent consultation fee will be charged for each further appointment you attend and is not included in the estimate given during your first consultation.
