Personal profile
Barbara graduated from Cambridge in 1991. She completed a PhD in 1996 and this was followed by a period of post-doctoral study at the University of Pennsylvania where she developed genetic tests for various inherited metabolic diseases. She returned to the UK for a medicine residency at the Royal Veterinary College before returning to Cambridge as a Lecturer.

Interests
Barbara is a diplomate of ACVIM and ECVIM and is a recognised specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She is interested in many aspects of small animal medicine particularly metabolic defects, electrolyte imbalances, endocrine disease and immune mediated diseases.

Current research
Her research interests include inherited hyperparathyroidism in the keeshond, epilepsy in the keeshond, immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia and therapy of immune-mediated diseases. Please visit Barbara’s research profile for further information.
