Professional history
Heidi graduated from the University of Munich in 1995 and completed a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine of Zurich University in 1998. After three years in private practice, she spent one year working with finite element analysis at the University of Georgia and as AO Fellow at the University of Texas, USA, before being awarded a three-year ECVS residency by the University of Bern, Switzerland in 2003. In 2006 she joined the University of Cambridge, where she is Senior Surgeon for the busy Small Animal Orthopaedic Service of the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital.
Professional specialism and interests
I am happy to accept referrals in all aspects of orthopaedics in dogs and cats. I have a particular clinical interest in joint surgery including minimal invasive techniques like arthroscopy and minimal invasive fracture repair, and get excited about the management of complex trauma cases and cases of angular limb deformity correction.
Clinical research
Research interests include biomechanics of internal and external fracture fixation using conventional and computer simulated methods, and the aetiology and healing of canine humeral intracondylar fissures. Please see Heidi’s research profile for further information.
