Ryan Soussa BSc DVM (Distinction) MRCVS

Senior Clinical Training Scholar in Oncology

Ryan graduated from The University of Melbourne second in his class, with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with Distinction. He was awarded a place on the Dean’s Honours List every year of his DVM degree and shared the Payne Exhibition Prize for the highest academic achievement in the program’s clinical years. During his final year, Ryan spent an extensive amount of time in the United States of America, undertaking externships in Surgery at The University of California – Davis and Medical Oncology at The University of Wisconsin – Madison. Upon graduation, Ryan completed a specialist rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at a large referral hospital in Melbourne, before accepting another internship in Specialist Medical Oncology, rising to the position of Senior Associate. In this position, Ryan was a part of a team responsible for the diagnosis, planning, and treatment of specialist medical oncology patients; having personally performed over 1,000 chemotherapy and oncological treatments.  Ryan has also published scientific research nationally & internationally, presenting this and winning a research award at the ANZCVS Science Week National Conference in 2019. He is now a Senior Clinical Training Scholar in Oncology (ECVIM-CA Resident) at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, University of Cambridge.
