On Sunday 1 June, around 500 University staff and their families gathered at Park Farm in Madingley for a special behind-the-scenes look at farm life, hosted as part of Open Farm Sunday. Among the highlights of the day was the fantastic stand run by our QVSH General Practice team.
Led by our General Practice Vets, Allison McGraw, and Hannah Pinnock, with help from some of our brilliant veterinary students, the team brought the world of small animal practice to life for younger visitors. Children got stuck into face painting, took part in a treasure hunt and raffle, and tried out "Sweet Surgery" - a creative and hands-on game involving gowns, gloves, and the careful removal of sweets from the belly of a (very greedy!) toy dog.
“A lively atmosphere, sunshine, and community spirit defined this year’s Farm Open Day,” said Allison. “We had a fantastic time meeting staff, students, and their families, sharing insights into the life and work of a GP vet.”
Alongside the veterinary fun, guests also enjoyed sheep shearing demonstrations and learning about the farm’s robot milkers, making for a full and fascinating day out for the whole family!
A big thank you to our GP team for bringing energy, enthusiasm and a little surgical sparkle to the event!
