The QVSH Small Animal Orthopaedic Service affords us experience and expertise in a full range of orthopaedic surgical procedures, providing an outstanding service for our clients. As part of a multidisciplinary hospital, we have the advantage of working with a large and diverse group of specialist vets and nurses to ensure that all aspects of our patient’s care meets the highest standard, from diagnostic work-up to postoperative management. We are pleased to offer a referral service for diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of a wide spectrum of congenital, developmental, and traumatic conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.
Services offered include:
- Free advice service for general practitioners to discuss challenging cases
- Assessment of lameness (including objective gait analysis)
- Routine and challenging cases of all joint diseases (cranial cruciate ligament disease, patella luxation, osteochondrosis, etc)
- Arthroscopy of elbows, shoulders, stifles and tarsi
- Fracture repair including the management of polytrauma cases
- Treatment of ligament, tendon and muscle injuries
- Angular limb deformity correction (including the use of patient specific 3D printed guides)
- Management of osteoarthritis (in conjunction with our specialist led pain clinic)
- On-site Physiotherapy (including Shockwave treatment, post-operative recovery plans)
