The Queen's Veterinary School Hospital

Veterinary Physiotherapy

Welcome to our Veterinary Physiotherapy service led by experienced practitioner Matthew Scott BSc (Hons) MNAVP AHPR.

Meet our Physiotherapy Team

Our hospital is committed to a holistic approach to pet care, where physiotherapy plays a key role. Working closely with our neurology, orthopaedics, and nursing teams, we offer dedicated physiotherapy services for small animals, ensuring the highest standard of care. Our team collaborates with all veterinary departments throughout the hospital to enhance your pet's recovery after surgery or injury, or other external factors.

Direct external referrals from referring vets are accepted to the outpatient clinic, and appointments are currently available on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Due to demand, we will be expanding the service in 2024 and appointments will be available all week except on Mondays.

A physiotherapy session at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital (QVSH) includes a thorough physical examination involving postural, gait, and functional assessment, as well as palpation, joint range of motion, and neurological examination. All assessments are followed by treatment which includes manual therapy such as massage, joint mobilisation, and stretching, electrotherapies such as laser therapy, TENS, or PEMF, and therapeutic exercise to develop long lasting change and aid your pet’s recovery. Every patient is provided with a specific home exercise programme that is emailed to them for convenience.

Exciting new additions to our services, now include ortotics and shockwave therapy, representing pioneering treatments not found anywhere else in the region. These innovations guarantee the best care, promoting improved mobility and overall recovery for your pet.

For more information or to refer a case to us, please call the hospital on 01223 337621 or email or pet deserves the best care, and our Veterinary Physiotherapy service is here to provide it.

Trust us for compassionate care and pioneering treatments tailored to your pet’s unique needs.
